Theists sometimes react with mystery as to why anyone would want to insult their religion. “Can’t we all just get along? Can’t we all just respect each other?” 

If you “respect” someone else’s gibberish, you’re facilitating the race to the bottom, the sincere and urgent search to position public discourse at the lowest common denominator.
